Though Mothapalooza isn’t until next year, we just couldn’t let a summer go by without some sort of a moth event. Thus, we are excited to present MothCamp; a laid-back gathering of moth lovers!
Moth lovers unite! Join your fellow nature enthusiasts for a laid-back weekend in the heart of Hocking Hills mothing this diverse and beautiful habitat. Camp Oty’Okwa boasts 770 scenic acres. Participants may choose to camp or stay in basic dorm lodging or to stay off-site.
Everyone is encouraged to set up mothing stations around camp in this participant-driven event!
We are also planning offsite mothing locales to include Butterfly Ridge and Conkles Hollow, both in close proximity to Camp Oty’Okwa.
Explore the expansive and magnificent Hocking Hills region on your own during the day; we will provide direction on the best hot spots to explore. Or choose to join author, naturalist, and photographer Jim McCormac for an exclusive photo safari on Saturday afternoon. Limited space is available!
The event will kick off at 7PM in the Dining & Activity Hall where we will enjoy some light snacks and learn more about the weekend and the Hocking Hills Region.
Meals will include breakfast, lunch & dinner on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday.
Arrival to the event is after 5 PM Friday and we have to be cleared out by 10 AM Sunday to make room for the next group!
Camp Oty’Okwa is a Big Brothers/Big Sisters Camp. A portion of our proceeds will go to benefit this worthy organization.
Lodging consists of basic “dorm” accommodations – 15 bunk beds per room with shared bathroom facilities. There is no A/C available. Please provide your own towels, sheets & pillows. Alternatively you can camp and set up sheets most anywhere you like on this magnificent property.
You may also choose to handle your own accommodations and meals; and we have a reduced pricing structure for those who wish to do so. Wonderful cabins are available throughout the Hocking Hills region – Google it up and reserve early if you decide to go that route!
Saturday night after dinner we will have a Keynote Speaker to lead us in to another night of mothing.
We look forward to sharing a relaxing and fun weekend with friends, old & new alike, and hope you will join us. Who knows what species could turn up to delight us? Come and explore the night!
